The Pathways Toward Independence (PTI) program promotes the continued development of vocational training skills and/or functional independent living skills to assist special needs students in becoming emergent adults in the community. The PTI program allows students to develop employability skills and access post-secondary continuing education certificates through South Texas College. Students also gain daily living skills, community involvement, access to adult agencies, as well as build personal and social relationships. Our L.I.F.E. house allows for instruction for high school self-contained students based on IEP goals and objectives. Our L.I.FE. house provides real life opportunities for students to develop independence for life-long learning. This overview will allow participants to gain information on the steps and benefits of beginning a program.
